Project Overview:
The Hakanson Anderson engineering team has been designing a massive watermain project for the City of Otsego. This project is connecting the two watermain systems within the City so that there is one city-wide water system. The design process started in 2022 and is now wrapping up. The project is planned to be constructed in the summer of 2023.
The Otsego East-West Watermain Connection Project will connect the City’s east watermain system with the west watermain system. This is a big undertaking as trunk watermain will need to be installed all the way from McAllister Avenue to Padgett Avenue along CSAH 38.That is nearly 2.5 miles of trunk watermain construction. The City will see several benefits with the construction of this project including:
- Satisfying the peak demand of water more easily
- Being able to provide better fire protection throughout the City
- Overall greater redundancy for the system
- Provide more trunk watermain to supply future developments
The estimated construction cost is around $2.7 million. This connection will provide stability in the water supply system for the City of Otsego for many years to come.
